Jess McFarland
Jess McFarland has been with Hose and Rubber Supply for just over two years. His journey with the company began when he was seeking a change. With little prior experience in Hose and Rubber, Jess decided to respond to a job posting. When he met with Scott Hilton, Scott Winegar, and Brian Taylor during the interview process, he was immediately impressed by their professionalism and the overall spirit of the company. His intuition proved right, as working with them and the company has been a great fit.
One of the things Jess appreciates most about Hose and Rubber is the company’s strong emphasis on customer service and the value they place on their employees. "It's a fairly small company, and you can feel it," he says. Jess enjoys being part of a team where he feels more like a family member than just another employee. "Instead of just being another number or a warm body filling a position, you feel like part of a family here."
In his role as a Field Sales Representative, Jess spends his days meeting customers face-to-face, identifying their needs, and finding solutions. He describes his job as being the bridge between the company and its customers, ensuring that Hose and Rubber's products and services consistently meet expectations.
When asked about how the company makes him feel like part of a family, Jess points to the overall treatment of employees. While he doesn't have a specific story, he notes that everyone at Hose and Rubber is treated like a person. "If you have something going on in your life—whether it's personal needs or health issues—you’re met with understanding," he says. It’s this human touch that makes Hose and Rubber a special place to work. "You get the feeling that people genuinely care about you and your life."
Hose and Rubber also prioritizes customer satisfaction. Their company motto, "Say what you're going to do, and do what you said you’re going to do," is more than just words to Jess. It’s a guiding principle that he and his colleagues live by every day. While it’s hard for him to pinpoint a specific example offhand, Jess emphasizes that this mindset is ingrained in everything they do. It’s all about consistently going above and beyond to meet customers' needs.
Outside of work, Jess leads a busy life filled with a variety of hobbies. He and his family are avid travelers, having recently visited Morocco and Portugal. He’s also passionate about outdoor activities, from camping and backpacking to fishing and hiking. In fact, he’s gearing up for a five-day backcountry trip in Yellowstone with his sons, brother, and a few friends. Jess also enjoys history, food, cooking, and music.
