Name: Trinity Magera
Title: Driver
Tenure: 2 Years

Bio: Ask any Hose and Rubber Supply employee, and they’ll tell you that they view their coworkers as “family.” Hose and Rubber is a family in so many ways but that’s not just a metaphor. Several Hose and Rubber Supply employees actually do work with their family members!

Such was the case with Trinity Magera, a driver with Hose and Rubber Supply. She began her career with the company after her cousin, a warehouse manager, told her about a position. Previously, Magera was working as a shipping and receiving manager at a ring company. The company closed down due to Covid, and Magera was looking for a job.

She found one in Hose and Rubber Supply.

“My cousin let me know that Hose and Rubber Supply was looking for a driver,” Magera stated. “I was looking for a bit more permanent work, and she told me I should just interview for the job and see if it was a good fit. So we set up the interview and I came in, and I really liked the energy when I was interviewing with Todd. I thought it was a really good fit. So then we set my start date and then it all just went from there.”

Magera began working for Hose and Rubber Supply in 2021 and, in the last two years, she has grown to love the job even more than she thought she would.

“I love my job,” she said. “I love everything about it. I like the energy of the place. We can banter with each other and have a good time. We laugh, we joke. I’ve read it in other interviews and I feel corny saying it, but it really is like a family dynamic.”

Things become cliche for a reason and the fact is, Hose and Rubber Supply really does have a family-like atmosphere. They care about each other. They take care of each other. They offer a hand when it’s needed. They support each other every step of the way and that’s one of Magera’s favorite parts about the job. But it’s not the only part.

“I like that I’m kind of on my own,” she shared. I’m on my own time. I set my route and I get to listen to podcasts while I make deliveries and obviously I have bosses but nobody is telling me exactly what to do. In the morning, I’ll get to the building and look at my board and set up what my time schedules are, and see if I have any time sensitive things. And then I just do my routes.”

It’s a great job, Magera said, full of great people, including the customers.

“I love our customers,” she beamed. “I enjoy stopping and just talking with them, carrying on conversations. Some of them tell me about their personal life or their kids and things like that are really cool. Some of my customers know that I’m really into food, so they’ll give me restaurant recommendations. And it’s like I develop these little relationships with them.”

Magera loves the relationships that she’s developed with both her customers and her co-workers. This job, she said, has been an absolute blessing. It’s been something to hang her hat on, something to be proud of.
“This is a really big deal for me,” Magera said. “I’ve always struggled to provide for my kids. And so one of the biggest blessings about working at Hose and Rubber is that I’m able to provide for them on my own. That’s one of my biggest accomplishments - my home, the private school for my kiddos, my daughter is in Girl Scouts and soccer - all of the things that we do, I’m able to do on my own.”

For Magera, it’s a big deal. She’s a single mom taking care of two children on her own. She spent years living paycheck to paycheck, like many of us do. She spent many countless nights wondering about how she was going to be able to take care of her kiddos and give them everything they wanted, everything they needed. Hose and Rubber Supply has given her an opportunity to provide all of those things and more. And that is a gift that she does not take lightly.

“This job means that I can show my daughter that she can have her own independence,” Magera shared. “She doesn’t have to rely on anything; that she could do this on her own. It offers me a sense of independence - it showed me that I’m able to do this by myself. I’ve always had to have two jobs before, or part-time jobs, just so I could give my kids the life that they deserve. And with this job, I can do that. I can give them the life that they deserve.”
